BSCI

Business Social Compliance Initiative

Ensuring a strong supply chain based on ethical principles

Globalization means that retailers, importers and brands source products from supplying companies throughout the world. This calls for one common Code of Conduct and one single Implementation System that will enable all companies sourcing products from all parts of the world to collectively address the complex labor issues of their supply chain.

What is BSCI?

The Business Social Compliance Initiative, BSCI, lays the groundwork for a common monitoring system for social compliance in the supply chain management system. It supports companies to drive social compliance and improvements within the factories and farms in their global supply chains. The ultimate goal of BSCI is protecting the workers’ rights and benefits in compliance of local and international requirements.

BSCI implements the principles of international labor standards protecting workers’ rights such as the International Labor Organization (ILO) conventions and declarations, the United Nations (UN) Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and guidelines for multinational enterprises of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
